Chapter 27

New Roles

Althea slowed down shortly before reaching Glimmervale. Finding a gap between the trees, she slithered through the spaced crowns and wriggled around the thick trunks until she could fully stop. Asterios helped Grea and Tina jump off their draconic friend and the Dragon lady returned to her humanoid form.

“It would have been so epic if we just flew back there like this,” Grea commented, looking towards the town.

“Some people might think Althea is the source of the commotion and that could cause panic.” Tina chuckled softly.

“One day,” Asterios said, meeting his mentor’s gentle gaze. “One step at a time. And we have plenty of them to make. The dungeon couldn’t have picked a worse moment to show up.”

His crimson-skinned demon lover groaned. “Shit just keeps piling up and up. As if taking over Glimmervale wasn’t complex enough already. The following days are going to suck so much.”

“It’s not only days that will.” Tina found Ast’s eyes with a clear blush on her sweet cheeks and started walking away.

“You good? Maybe you should take the strap off before it burns you where neither of us would like it to.” Asterios pulled her a bit closer just as she wished.

“Everything is alright. It’s not exactly that uncomfortable,” she replied, turning even redder. “And I can’t take it off. Not yet.”

“Alright. Just don’t overdo it because of Grea’s silly games.” He leaned to the side and placed a loving kiss on her cheek.

Tina nodded and they entered the town, followed by the other two. Since the streets were mostly empty, it didn’t take them long to return to the main square, where the majority of residents and travelers were still located. Thankfully, it looked like the situation was under control and no one was panicking after the tremors had subsided.

Someone spotted them and people parted to make way for him and the ladies. Asterios headed straight for the stage, where the rest of his mates awaited them, along with the rulers and the Committee. He nodded at the group while passing by everyone.

“Great job,” he said with a smile and stood in the center, turning to the gathered. “Thank you everyone for waiting patiently for our return. I’m glad to see that no one was hurt by the unexpected quake. To shed some light on the rude surprise,
